"Art should not remain in oblivion " - is the motto of Mikael Ayrapetyan's Secrets of Armenia international music project. Since 2012, Mikael Ayrapetyan’s Secrets of Armenia project regularly holds concerts of Armenian classical music at the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory.

 

On June 3, 2017, a concert of Armenian classical music dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Sarkis Barkhudaryan and the 120th anniversary of Haro Stepanyan was performed in the Great Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory. This is the fourth concert of the music of Armenian composers, held by the Secrets of Armenia project in the Great Hall on the eve of the 150th anniversary of the Moscow Conservatory. ​ The concert program for the first time included Aram Khachaturian cycle. Selected pieces from the Gayane and Spartacus ballets. Concert arrangement by Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia, Professor of Yerevan Komitas Conservatory, pianist Willy Sargsyan. ​

 

Sergey Barkhudarian (1887-1973) was an outstanding Armenian composer, Honored Artist of the Georgian SSR, People's Artist of the Armenian SSR. One of the founders of the original national style in Armenian classical music, especially in piano. Author of a large number of pieces for piano, the Narine ballet (1938), a number of orchestral plots, romances based on the words of A. Isahakian and music for theater and films.

 

Haro Stepanian (1897-1966) was an outstanding Armenian composer, People's Artist of the Armenian SSR, Stalin Prize Awardee. Being a friend of Aram Khachaturian, Haro Stepanian occupies his place in the contemporary chamber-vocal genre composing. Author of more than 150 romances and songs, a large number of piano compositions, 5 operas, and 3 symphonies. One of the most prominent Armenian composers.
